OBC Bat House Kit
This bat house kit is made for easy assembly (pieces are pre-drilled) and made of weather-resistant cedar with a 3/4" exterior plywood back. The design includes a ventilation slot for air circulation as well as an extended landing pad for our bat friends easy entrance into their new house.
Preferably, your bat house should be installed, a minimum of 15’ high, on a pole. Different options are to mount your house on the side of a tree or structure. Note: If mounting on a tree, the house must be mounted below the lowest limb, but still at least 15’ high, so the bats can fly directly up into the entrance of the house, which normally is located on the bottom, of the house. They will not fly through limbs or leaves to access it. If you can’t find a location on a tree that meets this requirement and still attain the proper height, you need to look for an alternative place.

Less than 1% of all bats carry rabies and if a bat is infected they do not act wild and attack people. Bats do not swoop purposely to become tangled in human hair. They are responding to their nature and actually helping you by trying to eat the bugs/mosquitoes that have been attracted to you and as a result are flying around your head/body.
Due to misinformation many people are under the wrong impression that bats are bad, scary, evil and/or dirty creatures. When in fact just the opposite is true. They are very beneficial to our environment and should be respected as such. Proper information can help clear up any misconceptions about our bat friends.
